This was a John Kass birthday show – those were always a great time, often bringing together a slew of terrific bands who had been associated with the ProSpective or Susstones labels at some point in time.
The 1st Avenue calendar for November 1994, indicated the bill featured:
The Spectors
Thee Viceroys
Autumn Leaves
Powerful Star Drag
Notes attached to my recording of The Spectors from this night indicated the bill also included Wahinis. That much can be confirmed at least, and if memory serves, I believe Powerful Star Drag were not able to perform that evening. It also seems unlikely that would there have been five bands on the bill.
During The Spectors set, Chris thanks Thee Viceroys, Autumn Leaves, and Wahinis; and also mentions that Plasticland was originally scheduled to play but had to cancel; and calls out John Kass’ birthday at the end of their set.
Somewhere in my archives, I should have some photos from the evening, which – when located – might help clear up details about the line-up for the evening.
