Here is an advance Screening / Listening Party for the projected Borrowed Time album, In A New Land.
Welcome to the Listening Party!
This is a Private Party – Invitation Only – but feel free to bring a guest, if you’re willing to vouch for them.
This album was recorded in 1985, and then the band called it a day. For nearly four decades.
This version of the album was made by hand in 2024, on four 10″ discs, and the music embedded into the grooves with the help of a Presto 6N lathe that dates back to 1941.
These discs were half-speed mastered to play back at 45rpm, for optimal audio quality.
The audio on the album itself is a digital > analog transfer from a 16/44.1kHz 2-channel final mix made in 1985 by Melne Murphy and J.Free, with assistance from Jeff LaBelle, at PAX Studio in Apple Valley.
The audio in this video clip is not a direct feed from the sound system, but simply recorded with an ambient mic on the camera.
The introductory clip is from a DVD-R of the final Borrowed Time performance in 1985, at The Whole Music Club, in Minneapolis.
Prepare to enjoy nearly an hour’s worth of video showing phonograph records being played on a turntable.
