PDX Pop Now! 2009 CD Release Party
live at Holocene
4 June 2009
On Thursday, June 4, 2009, PDX Pop Now! threw a CD release party at Holocene, to celebrate the release of their fifth annual compilation CD, PDX Pop Now! 2009. A diverse night of entertainment, this event featured live sets by The Taxpayers, What's Up?, Jared Mees and the Grown Children, Copy, and all-night spinning from DJ Beyonda. Presented here are a few video highlights from that event - a couple of clips from each of the artists who performed. It took me a while to get all of the song titles for these tracks, but hopefully that shouldn't have prevented anyone from being able to enjoy the music!
This was just a teaser for the big event, the 2009 PDX Pop Now! festival - a free, all-ages event, which took place July 24-26 at Rotture. PDX Pop Now! is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization, dedicated to maintaining a local, sustainable, and diverse music scene. If you want to show your support for local music, pick up any or all of the PDX Pop Now! compilation discs at your favorite local record store, and plan on attending this year's festival at Rotture!

I should also like to mention that the microphones used to record these live tracks were a prototype set of CA-11 cardioid mics; also made in Canada by Chris Church, of Church Audio.
A selection of Chris' hand-built mics and pre-amps can be viewed at the Church Audio eBay Canada store.
